October 19 UpdateBeen a while since I updated....
One-track lost her front tooth today and a bottom one last week. Just in time for picture day. It's a very dramatic procedure, the tooth hanging by a thread and I'm the designated tooth puller in the family. My hubby gets queasy and has to leave the room, hard to believe he watched all 3 of our girls being born.
Anyway One-track screams, cries and hollers like I'm slowly torturing her. The end result is me holding the tooth and telling her "one track I already pulled it out you can open your eyes now." We're now awaiting the tooth fairy. Always before I pull the tooth, I give the eye to MR Timber and mouth "do you have cash?" The tooth fairy has gone up in price since I was a kid. Coins to her would be an insult, it must be cold hard cash.
Got Lasik, or more specifically Custom PRK on Thursday and this is my first good day. I knew I should have been worried when they gave me prescription for Percocet. It was a tad more uncomfortable than I expected but more annyoying is I couldn't see a darn thing and when you have 3 kids up to no good, that is scary. Thank goodness Mr timber stepped in and took care of everthing this weekend. I basically just wandered around with bug eye goggles on and sunglasses indoors for the past 3 days. And now, I can actually see the computer screen without glasses. AMAZING
Halloween is around the corner and One-track is Princess Leia (SP), Linus is gulp.... Dora, and Stella is, well, Diva Stella, she coudln't find a costume up to her standards so she has decided to throw something together herself out of our dress up bins. It shall be interesting.
September 03 First dayOne-track had her first day of second grade and the twins had their first day of independent gymnastics class. Don't have to accompany them anymore which is nice and they are much better behaved on someone else's watch. They did really good walking across the balance beam, swinging from the parallel bars and doing summersaults by themselves. Ahhh, I have an hour to read a book now, any suggestions?
One-track had a good first day, although she is used to very young, vivacious teachers, her's was neither. She was a little disgruntled, but shook it off once the teacher told them their classroom was to be the "busy bee's" they read related books and the room was decorated accordingly. I think she'll do just fine.
PS 29 Jillian’s school facts in case anyone is interested what kind of experience she is getting here.

Congrats to Auntie Deetle and HFKAJ on their new bundles!
Happy birthday to Mr Timber who turns 34 today. The kids and I threw a little party for him and he received Madden 08 or 09? who can keep track, of which he played "or set up" for a bit. It was extra nice as Mr Timber was in London all last week on business, so I and the kids were especially happy and celebratory. It's always too quiet and no fun when he's not here. He's an amazing husband and dad and we're very fortunate he's ours! August 16 Oregon TripWe're back from our Oregon trip and for the most part back into the NY groove of things. The girl are still on Oregon time sleeping in till noon somedays, which is fine with us. I decided to skip naps yesterday because of this, big mistake. Linus woke up with a night terror. I ran up grabbed her out of the room so she didn't wake up the other girls. It takes usually around 15 minutes of rocking, talking, reasoning, peeing, washing hands and face with cold water before she wakes up. While doing this Stella has woken half way up and is hysterically crying while climbing into Linus's bed looking for her. Proof that (1), the kid does have empathy for her sisters, and (2) the twins are closer and bonded than I thought.
Our trip was awesome and me and the girls and our trusty rental suv made it to visit almost everyone. Then Mr Timber flew in and we had a great time in Sunriver, St Helens and the beach. It's always hard to leave family. Moving to NYC has given such a good perspective on things now. We've learned the most important things are really family and friends. We've learned you don't need a huge house to accomadate a family of 5 and we don't care about cars when you have mass transit. Discount stores and one stop shopping is a blessing. A backyard with a swingset is just what our kids need.
Stella has changed since being in Oregon, she's much sweeter and talkative which is nice. Maybe she just needed a little Oregonian therapy? Linus has become quite the dog/horse whisperer. Although her whispers are more like yells and commands that she mocks from GG and Uncle J. She's hot on the track of getting a kitty or doggy which is driving us nuts. One-track had a great trip but coming back has regressed into a whiny, temper tantrum throwing 3 year old which is odd. But it's hard leaving her friends and family behind. She's one the way of snapping out of it.
Oddly enough, that being said, it was nice to get back to our own beds, toys, kitchen and way of life. I actually missed the smells and sounds of Brooklyn. Catching up with friends at the park is always nice.
Someday we'll go back to Oregon to live. But till then, I'm out ... from Brooklyn June 29 UpdatesWe're officially done with school, no more hustling to school in the mornings! It's nice to be a bit lazy in the mornings again, even if we still wake up at 7am thanks to Linus. The class had a nice poetry reading followed by a junk food party (not meant to be). It was sad to say good bye to Mrs. S. One-track is now officially a 2nd grader. Her last day of school I recieved a "back to school" catalog in the mail. Poor kid.
This weekend we went to Coney Island and One-track invited her good friend to go. They had fun on the rides, ate junkfood, got stuck in a huge thunderstorm and left after the 2nd inning. All that being said we had a really good time. It's always different bringing along a boy with our family as you forget how different the energy, attention span and basic listening skills are. I fear K might have gone home saying "man One-tracks parents sure to yell a lot." I felt myself using the "mommy voice" way more than I wanted to. You always want to be the "cool" parents when the girls have playdates and friends over but that can't alway be the case when taking someone else's child to "gritty" Coney Island.
